Picture Book Learning was originally designed
to be used by teachers to strengthen a
curriculum and provide challenging activities
for students with varying levels of language
arts abilities. The brains behind the
idea,
Corinne Osborne,
developed the concept while teaching second
grade and completing her Master’s degree in
Elementary Education. During this time, she
created dozens of Picture Book Learning Skill
Sheets that encompass a variety of important
language arts skills. They were tested with
many different picture books in her classroom
and in the classrooms of fellow teachers.
The benefits of
the Skill Sheets in the classroom:
 |
Use one Skill
Sheet with multiple children's books to
reinforce the concept |
 |
Use one
familiar picture book to learn new concepts
on multiple Skill Sheets |
 |
Create one
lesson that is used with students of varying
levels of reading and language arts
abilities |
 |
Enable
variety in the classroom |
